All-Round Commercial Catering Equipment Technician

FixaKitchen is looking for a dependable all-round technician who can diagnose and repair a practical mix of commercial catering equipment. Typical work may include ovens, fryers, grills, dishwashers, glasswashers, mixers, slicers, preparation equipment and other electrically or mechanically operated kitchen equipment.

This opportunity suits a hands-on problem solver who works safely, communicates professionally and can complete accepted jobs without day-to-day supervision. Refrigeration or gas-equipment experience is useful, but you will only be assigned work that matches your proven skills and authorisations.

This role does not require ducting, extraction-system installation, stainless-steel fabrication or welding experience.

Compensation: Agreed per job, call-out or project according to scope, experience and required qualifications.

• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on commercial catering equipment.
• Repair, service and test equipment safely and methodically.
• Complete preventative maintenance and equipment installations where experienced.
• Attend customer sites on time and communicate professionally.
• Provide clear findings, photographs, material requirements and service reports.
• Complete accepted work without direct supervision.
• Escalate safety concerns and decline work outside your competence or authorised scope.
• Protect customer property and leave work areas clean.
• Supply accurate job-completion information for customer reporting and invoicing.

• Proven hands-on experience repairing commercial catering or related electromechanical equipment.
• Strong practical electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.
• Own reliable transport suitable for attending jobs.
• Own essential trade tools and test instruments.
• Smartphone with reliable mobile data.
• Able to diagnose and complete accepted work without supervision.
• Professional customer communication and dependable attendance.
• Willing to travel within Cape Town and, by agreement, the Western Cape.
• Able to identify labour and material requirements before additional work proceeds.

USEFUL, NOT REQUIRED • Commercial refrigeration repair experience. • Gas-equipment experience with valid authorisation where legally required. • Experience installing and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment. • A relevant electrical, mechanical, refrigeration or trade qualification. • Public liability insurance and an established contracting business. • References for recent commercial equipment repair work.
