About the role
FixaKitchen is looking for a technician with proven, hands-on experience repairing commercial food-production mixers. The main focus is Hobart mixers, B20-style planetary mixers, commercial dough mixers and cake mixers used in bakeries, restaurants and production kitchens.
This is a specialist opportunity for someone who understands how mixer drive systems, bearings, gears, shafts, seals, motors, switches, controls and safety mechanisms work together. Applicants must be able to diagnose faults methodically and complete accepted repairs without day-to-day supervision.
Bowl-cutter experience is not required for this position.
Compensation: Agreed per job, call-out or project according to scope, experience and required parts.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on commercial mixers.
- Repair and service Hobart and B20-style planetary mixers.
- Work on commercial dough mixers and cake mixers within proven experience.
- Inspect gears, shafts, bearings, seals, belts, motors, switches and controls.
- Identify damaged parts and provide accurate material or replacement-part requirements.
- Test mixer operation and safety functions after completing repairs.
- Provide clear findings, photographs and digital service reports.
- Complete accepted jobs without direct supervision.
- Protect customer equipment and leave work areas clean.
- Escalate unsafe equipment or work outside your competence.
Requirements
- Proven experience repairing commercial mixers—not only operating them.
- Practical experience with Hobart mixers and B20-style planetary mixers.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and strip-down or reassembly ability.
- Able to diagnose basic electrical components, motors, switches and controls safely.
- Own essential hand tools and test instruments.
- Own reliable transport suitable for attending customer sites.
- Smartphone with reliable mobile data.
- Professional customer communication and dependable attendance.
- Able to complete accepted work without direct supervision.
- Willing to travel within Cape Town and nearby areas by agreement.
Preferred qualifications
USEFUL, NOT REQUIRED • Experience with larger commercial dough mixers or bakery production equipment. • Experience replacing bearings, gears, shafts, seals and drive components. • Relevant electrical, mechanical or fitting qualification. • Access to specialist pullers, presses or workshop equipment. • Public liability insurance and an established contracting business. • References for recent commercial mixer repair work.
SCOPE NOTE
Bowl cutters are excluded from this opportunity for now. Technicians are only allocated equipment and repairs that match their confirmed experience.
